My Practice:
Virtual & Teletherapy Care
Therapy has a place in all of our lives. You don’t have to have a mental health diagnosis, you don’t have to be in crisis. Therapy is about helping you to gain a better understanding of yourself, helping you to learn self control and coping strategies and to help you define what you want from yourself and others. These benefits come from therapy whether you’re going through a rough time or even when things seem great. Now more than ever, there are easy and accessible options to engage in therapy. The emergence of virtual therapy has eliminated so many barriers such that it’s a convenient, accessible and effective way to get the help you need at a time and place that fits in your schedule.
To be honest, as a therapist I thought virtual therapy was a little strange to begin with too. I thought, “how can I really make a connection with someone over a screen?” The pandemic changed a lot of things for all of us though, and finding new ways to do things became a must. As a therapist, I was pleasantly surprised by virtual therapy from my first session with a client. We were able to see each other clearly, hear each other just as though we were in the same place, and could connect for the same great results - all over a screen.
I offer a safe, supportive and encouraging space for you to share any or all of your thoughts and feelings. I have 25 years of experience in working with individuals experiencing chronic/acute illnesses, situational crises and life transitions. I don’t believe in a “one size fits all model”. As such, my practice is grounded in several evidence-based practice approaches based on what will best suit you (Cognitive/Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Self-Compassion and more). You and I can work together to support you in the change that you are seeking in yourself, your relationships and your life roles.
