Therapy has a place in all of our lives. You don’t have to have a mental health diagnosis, you don’t have to be in crisis. Therapy is about helping you to gain a better understanding of yourself, helping you to learn self control and coping strategies and to help you define what you want from yourself and others. These benefits come from therapy whether you’re going through a rough time or even when things seem great. Now more than ever, there are easy and accessible options to engage in therapy. The emergence of virtual therapy has eliminated so many barriers such that it’s a convenient, accessible and effective way to get the help you need at a time and place that fits in your schedule.
To be honest, as a therapist I thought virtual therapy was a little strange to begin with too. I thought, “how can I really make a connection with someone over a screen?” The pandemic changed a lot of things for all of us though, and finding new ways to do things became a must. As a therapist, I was pleasantly surprised by virtual therapy from my first session with a client. We were able to see each other clearly, hear each other just as though we were in the same place, and could connect for the same great results - all over a screen.
I offer a safe, supportive and encouraging space for you to share any or all of your thoughts and feelings. I have over 20 years of experience in working with individuals experiencing chronic/acute illnesses, situational crises and life transitions. I don’t believe in a “one size fits all model”. As such, my practice is grounded in several evidence-based practice approaches based on what will best suit you (Cognitive/Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Self-Compassion and more). You and I can work together to support you in the change that you are seeking in yourself, your relationships and your life roles.
Here are the great things that Virtual Therapy with me can offer:
Convenience: There is no travel time involved in virtual therapy. You book for a time that you have free in your schedule, pop online and that’s it. There’s no hassle with traffic, finding a place to park, or worrying that you left too late and won’t make it to your appointment on time. Our therapists are available throughout the day and evenings so you can book at a time that’s best for you - during the day, at lunch, in the evening or even on a weekend. You can even see us while you’re travelling away from home. All it takes is a click!
Accessibility: For some, the mental health stigma around mental health keeps them from getting help that could really benefit them. By being able to access therapy from your own home, you can take the important first step in connecting to a clinician with ease. There are no physical barriers for anyone who has difficulty or is unable to leave their home. We’re here for you!
Anonymity/Privacy: When you make the decision to seek therapy and set up an appointment at a local therapist’s office, it increases the chance of bumping into your therapist at the grocery store at some point. For many, this is not an appealing thought given that sensitive issues are discussed with that clinician. Virtual therapy eliminates this worry.
An Investment in Yourself: Therapy isn’t just for sad people. Therapy is good for everyone’s mental wellness. Therapy can help you through difficult times, but it’s equally helpful in being able to work on personal growth and goals when you’re not in crisis. There’s great benefit to therapy in good times and bad! Starting with one of our clinicians is just a click away.
Virtual therapy is available when and where you are. There’s no more “finding someone close” for ease of access. I’m accessible to you wherever you are and at a time that fits your schedule. All you have to do is to book that first appointment. Don’t wait until things in your life are really bad, or what for them to be better - just START! Virtual therapy is a point and click away. How much easier could it be to make an investment in yourself that will last a lifetime?!
